It’s that time of year again, marketers, when everyone’s advertising is filled to bursting with Christmas trees, Santa Claus, and a whole lot of red.
I’m not a big fan of the color, and honestly seeing an influx of it reminds me of that one scene from The Shining.

All joking (and ‘bah humbug’) aside, this is an exceptionally busy time of year for companies striving to stay top-of-mind with their customers. The online and offline noise is, without a doubt, deafening. From social media, to pop-ups across the web, to outdoor billboards and store-fronts, engaging with an audience is much more involved than we sometimes give it credit for.
The question is, how can a brand capture attention and stand out from the carolling crowd? How can it evoke emotional responses that elicit specific actions? How can it highlight its value proposition in both appealing and subtle ways?
There have been a few gems this season, advertisements that drew from themes of nostalgia, diversity, and inclusiveness. Here are three of my favorite Christmas ads that we can all use for inspiration in 2019:
