IGTV has taken on a life of its own. Brands are finding creative ways to rope in audiences with its vertical views, from creators you follow, right at your fingertips. According to Instagram, IGTV is the future of video. It gives viewers longer videos with deeper and valuable storytelling. But how are brands doing it? Here are a few examples of how brands are using IGTV:
Uploading Previous Content

John Mayer uses his IGTV channel to upload his ‘Current Mood’ live sessions. He actually goes live on Instagram and discusses topics and hosts musical guests. Instagram lives are removed after 24 hours. John uploads these videos where they can be viewed again. He does upload it to his YouTube as well but I’m sure you’d rather the commercial free option for now.

It is no secret that there is a separation of content between Facebook and Instagram. What you’ll normally post on one medium you won’t post to the other. This rings through your personal and business profiles. Timbaland is a master creator at music. His IGTV content is exclusive and raw, you won’t find most of it on his Facebook. These types of insightful content brings your audience closer to you. A sense of relation is built and his audience will look out for more content like this.
Product Sneak Peeks
A post shared by Huda Kattan (@hudabeauty) on Dec 19, 2018 at 4:05am PST
One of the uses of IGTV for Huda, the beauty brand, is product sneak peeks. Sneak peeks are usually quick and leaves your audience in wonder. Huda uses IGTV to show her favourite new products and even shows exactly how they work. Your business can do the same. Have an event coming up? Do a teaser video longer than one minute and post it to your Instagram making your audience go to your IGTV channel. Since Instagram has allowed IGTV videos to preview on the Instagram feed, it has increased its usage.
As the social media landscape changes, we’ve got to press along with it or fail. Instagram Television is just one of those features we’ve got to use to brand advantage. You won’t see a Huda commercial on TRUTV and most likely Timbaland’s behind the scenes footage would not make evening ENews. So what are you waiting for? Lights! Cell Phone Camera! IGTV!
